Kathmandu. The Nepali Congress is scheduled to hold the convention of the remaining 16 districts on January 10. The convention is yet to be held in 8 districts of Province 2 and 4 districts of Bagmati, 1 district of Gandaki, 1 district of Lumbini and 2 districts of Far Western Province. According to Gopal Krishna Ghimire, coordinator of the Central Election Committee of the Nepali Congress, the district convention will be held on December 10. According to Ghimire, the election committee will send the election officer initially assigned for the district convention.
Dr. Rudra Sharma in Saptari, Sanjiv Lama in Siraha, Arun Gyawali in Dhanusha, Indra Adhikari in Mahottari, Dhirendra Chaudhary in Sarlahi, Deepak Raj Giri in Rautahat, Narendra KC in Parsa and Gyanendra Pasad Adhikari in Bara were sent as election officers. Bhattarai has been given the responsibility of election officer. The Election Officer of Chitwan has resigned and no other candidate has been sent. They will hold a district convention.
In Dhanusha, Nidhi is understood to be in favor of re-appointing Mahesh Shankar Giri as the current chairman of Dhanusha District Working Committee. However, Santosh and Bishweshwar are understood to be lobbying for the chairmanship from within. Ramdev Sah, the presidential candidate from the Poudel team, is preparing to rise again this time.
Ram Kumar Yadav, Badrinarayan Yadav and Narayan Chaudhary are also lobbying for the district leadership. Sandeep Narayan Pathak of Akanksha Deuba’s party and Bajrangi Nepali of Koirala group have not even held a regional convention in the constituency.
The district convention in Sarlahi is uncertain. A complaint has been lodged with the Election Committee demanding resumption of the convention of Sarlahi Constituency No. 2. It has been demanded that the convention be re-convened saying that the delegates could not be elected in an inclusive manner. From the Deuba group, the chairman was in the strategy of repeating the opinion.
The names of Sunil Yadav, Hriday Naran Yadav and Ram Chandra Giri are being discussed for the post of district chairman in Rautahat. Sunil and Hriday Naran Deuba are claimants in the team while Ram Chandra Giri is trying to be the presidential candidate from Koirala group. The Deuba faction is looking for a new candidate for the post of Nepali Congress president in Bara district after the incumbent district president Jayachandra Chaurasia was defeated in the General Convention.
From the Deuba team, Rajesh Rai Yadav, son of former president Rajesh Chandra Yadav, has been lobbying for the chairmanship.
In Siraha, incumbent Deuba district president Ram Chandra Yadav is on a recurring strategy. Ram Sundar Chaudhary is also in line to contest against Deuba from Deuba’s side. Leaders from Koirala team including Amber Babu and Amir Yadav also have a claim on the chairmanship.
It is understood that Dwivedi, who became the Parsa president from the Deuba panel for the NC leadership in Parsa, is still in the strategy of becoming the president again. Janardan Chhetri has started preparations for Dwivedi’s alternative. Leaders including Deputy Chairman Prakash Upadhyay and Secretary Shyam Kattel are also lobbying for the post.
In Kailali, Prakash Bam, Narayan Dutta Bhatt, Bhim Baduwal, Khemraj Chaudhary, Ganesh Deuba and others are being discussed for the post of NC district president.
In Achham, it is seen that there will be competition in favor of Deuba for the post of NC president. Incumbent president Bharat Kumar Swar from Deuba team has tried to repeat. Former president Pushpa Bahadur Shah has also increased lobbying for the chairmanship. Rajan Kunwar from the Shekhar Koirala faction is claiming for the chairmanship. Kunwar, who is close to General Minister Gagan Thapa, has already announced his candidature for the post of district chairman.
In Nawalparasi East (Nawalpur), Madan Bhatt Adhikari, Mahendra Dhwaj GC and Bal Krishna Ghimire are also seen aspiring for the post of district president. Adhikari and Bal Krishna Ghimire are considered close to Shashank Koirala, while senior leader Ram Chandra Poudel Poudel is close to Mahendra Dhwaj.
There are five aspirants for the post of district chairman in Banke. Surendra Hamal, Niranjan Sijapati, Rajkumar Burma, Badshah Kurmi and Narayan Gaudel have shown interest for the post of district chairman. Prada Suryakant Ghimire, Milan Babu Shrestha, Rajeshwar Khanal and Vijay Sharma Bhushal are in the race for the chairmanship.
Koirala, Joshi, Ghimire, Khanal and Bhushal Shekhar Koirala are lobbying for the post from the Koirala faction while Milan Babu is preparing to be the best candidate from the Deuba faction. Prabhat Dahal, general secretary of the Nepali Union, close to leader Prakash Man Singh and Raghurman Neupan, close to Shekhar Koirala, are also aspiring for the post.
Premadhwaj Lama, Bishnu Vikram Thapa and Vikas Tamang from Deuba faction are vying for the chairmanship of Sindhupalchok. Shiva Sunar, Bil Bahadur Tamang and Banshlal Tamang are vying for the chairmanship from Shekhar Koirala faction. Representing the group of current district president Ujjwal Prasad Baral Shekhar Koirala for the post of Sindhuli district president, he is preparing to run for the post again. However, the current vice-president of the Koirala faction Khadga Bahadur Waiba and former secretary Upendra Pokhrel are also demanding the chairmanship. Similarly, Manik Dhakal and Prem Chandra Dahal from the Deuba faction have also claimed for the chairmanship.
