Twelve Superintendent of Police (SP) Krishna Pangeni, known as an expert in crime investigation, assumed command at the District Police Office, Bara on January 10.
Pangeni is a senior officer in the Kathmandu Valley’s Kathmandu Police Complex, Thankot and Akhtiar.
With Bara’s arrival, Pangeni’s first priority was to break the ‘main nexus’ of drugs entering the Indian border.
Pangeni has been playing a significant role in arresting fugitives from various incidents in the district for a long time, including drug control, violence against women and raising public awareness for the protection of children.
As soon as he arrived in Bara, Kundan Faujdar, the mastermind of the murder of long-absconding journalist Birendra Sah, was arrested. About half a dozen police chiefs were arrested by Superintendent of Police Pangeni for failing to make an arrest. A few months after his arrival in Bara, another criminal, Hareram Patel, the killer of journalist Sah, was also arrested.
After the arrival of Superintendent of Police Pangeni in Bara, the accused who have been absconding for many years have been arrested. Since the leadership of the district police chief has improved the peace and security in the district, he has succeeded in winning the hearts of the people of Bara.
Drug traffickers are being arrested

Police under the District Police Office have been actively deployed to control drug use and smuggling as youths in the district have been addicted to drugs like cannabis, brown sugar and tablets in recent times. They have been instructed to adopt zero tolerance in drug control, said Superintendent of Police Krishna Pangeni.
Nepal Police has launched an unannounced campaign to make Bara a drug-free district. According to the police, the number of drug users and traffickers has increased and the number of drug traffickers has increased. Ramesh Sah, a local, is happy that the police are doing more positive work now than in previous years and are more active in protecting the youth from drug addicts. Community-police partnership becoming effective
Asked why the number of incidents was higher this year than in previous years, Pangeni said the relationship between the police and the community was stronger than in previous years and the work of the police was done in collaboration with the community. As per the action plan of the Ministry of Home Affairs, community police partnership program is being implemented from toll to district level. Each committee has the participation of locals.

Police said that the community is also with them to control the criminal incidents and those involved in drug trafficking. According to the District Police Office, Bara, the community police partnership has made it easier for the members of the local committee to take control of various criminal incidents and people involved in drug trafficking as the local committee members will report the incident to the nearest police station.
Village, city, ward, school municipality and district level committees have been formed in Bara district. Every day, in collaboration with these committees, the Nepal Police is conducting some community and public awareness programs. Since last month, there have been hundreds of different types of awareness programs across the district under the Community Police Partnership Program.
